<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">When I moved from Vancouver to Poole in 1993, Sunday dining was about the carvery, and the pub.I was never a fan of the carvery. I always longed for a place to have a lovely late brunch.I think it was culture shock.I had recently left Vancouver you expected to queue at least twenty minutes for a good brunch. If a place did not have a twenty minute wait it was not worth going to. Of course people would get there super-early and get the first tables but that first sitting of brunch never had the same buzz as the second one. The queue was part of the experience, Servers came around with tiny samples of hot coffee, juice, and the tiniest pancakes. Brunch was always gorgeous with flowers in drinks and garnishes that said this meal is special, it's not porridge or a quick bowl of cereal . It's the weekend.
<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">A few things that I know about Brunch.

<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Brunch has got to be gorgeous it can't be breakfast at the little chef on the way to the airport.
<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Brunch has got to have some Pancakes,Waffles, French- Toast or sweet stuff.
<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Brunch is not street food. it needs to be eaten from a plate while sitting down.
<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Brunch Pancakes have to be fluffy like clouds or pillows they are not crepes.
<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Brunch Pancakes need Maple Syrup not Golden Syrup or lemon and sugar.
<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Brunch is a perfect excuse to a drink at noon (we have special brunch cocktails )
<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"> In England you must have some baked beans in some form somewhere on the brunch menu
<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Brunch involves poached eggs - nobody knows how to make perfect poached eggs its luck

<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">As Homer Simpson said "It's not quite breakfast, it's not quite lunch, but it comes with a
slice of cantaloupe at the end. You don't exactly get what you would at
breakfast, but you get a good meal."

For the last four Sundays I served a pop-up brunch at jalarra the new cafe, bar in the triangle. It was a lot of fun and I loved working with Phyllida Swift, Kiall Douglas Wheatley and Marie, my enthusiastic and exceptionally good helpers. Thanks to Tony and Lisa Perkins for having me. Here are some pictures of the dishes. Thanks to the lovely Phyllida Swift for the pictures
I will be taking the next few Sundays off then looking for a new place to Pop up. If you are looking for great brunch locally.Cafe Boscanova http://boscanova.com/ is amazing for fluffy pancakes, awesome coffee as well as more traditional but completely lush breakfasts. Camden Ashley and Westbourne will also give you a pancake fix http://www.camdenbar.co.uk// I am also so very much in love with https://www.facebook.com/soulshinecafe?fref=ts Soulshine Cafe in Bridport. They import their own Canadian Maple syrup, make their own sourdough bread and serve amazing juices.
I have been serving brunch locally for ten years. Last year on Pancake day I even had a little interview on Radio Solent about " Pancakes Without" for people who prefer, pancakes without Gluten or Pancakes without Dairy.
you can find the recipes here http://tansyskitchen.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/gluten-free-pancake-day.html

This year I work at "Rockets and Rascals" a bike cafe in Lilliput. We have this gluten free version of pancakes on our menu. Sweet potatoes are one of the best sources of carbohydrates for the cyclists. They are high in carbohydrates, but have a relatively
low glycemic index which means a slower burn. They are also an excellent source of vitamin A and C, magnesium,
potassium, and beta-carotene.

Pecan and Apple stacks (Cooking these pancakes in coconut oil gives a
slightly tropical taste.)

1 large sweet Potato roasted in its skin until mashed
2 banana's mashed (these replace the eggs and bind the mix)

2tsp wheat free- baking powder
2 cups of almond/soya/ or milk replacement

400 gr doves farm gluten free flour
1-2 tbs of coconut oil
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla essence

Remove the skin from the sweet potato and bananas and mash together .
Add the flour, baking powder / cinnamon and vanilla essence
Mix in the milk replacement of your choice and stir to make a fairly thick batter
Leave to rest for for ten minutes then melt the coconut oil in a pan and drop spoonfuls of mix into the pan
to make pancake. cook a few minutes on each side .

Layer with baked apples, sliced banana and pecans and drizzle with maple syrup or vegan salted caramel.
in honour of pancake day we will also be selling Canadian style blue angels with blueberry and bananas.
Don't worry if you cant make it in for pancake day. Both styles of pancakes will be on the menu until Sunday.
Toronto is where I first worked as a cook and where I got inspiration for multicultural and eclectic casual food. Luckily through social networking I still keep in touch with the Toronto food scene. This place came up on my twitter feed last week /http://porterhouseto.com/ It's a new vegan pub in Toronto. The menu looks amazing. What really caught my eye was a shredded jackfruit sandwich. Here is how it is sold at the Porterhouse.

BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich <span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">
shredded jackfruit, slaw, horseradish mayo on a burger bun with fries.

I had never actually come across jack fruit. After a short browse on the Internet and on my bookshelf, I found lots of information on Jack Fruit. Apparently you can use it to make Reuben sandwiches, tuna melts, and pulled pork. Vegans and Veggies have known about it for years!

To use Jack-fruit as a meat substitute you need the unripe green fruit, not the ripened fruit.
You can buy whole jack fruit at ethnic shops at certain times of the year. Once ripe it supposedly smells quite strong. A few blogs gave instructions on how to remove the flesh- these included putting down newspaper and oiling your hands so you don't get covered in the sticky sap. It seemed as complicated as operating on an alien species, so I was relieved to find that tinned jack fruit works just as well.

If you live in Poole or Bournemouth, Makkah on Ashley Rd Parkstone sells tinned green young jackfruit. Make sure you buy it in brine - at this stage it doesn't smell strong at all.

My recipe for BBQ Shredded Jackfruit

Drain the brine. There are a few bits in the flesh that are a little harder
(I think it's kind of like the core of a pineapple- get rid of those.)
There are also a few seeds they look almost like a baked bean .
(I took those out as well although from what I understand they are perfectly edible.)

Fry two sliced onions in a 1 tbs of coconut oil - (you can use any oil but I like coconut oil - it has a slightly tropical taste.) Add the jackfruit, a big clove of crushed garlic and 2 tbs of smoked paprika.
Add 200 ml of water and simmer till it had reduced.

At this point I left it overnight in the fridge. It just happened that I wasn't serving it until the next day. Leaving overnight is good because it infuses the flavours into the flesh. Jack-fruit is like tofu; it hasn't got a lot of flavour so its up to the cook to add it.

The next day, I made BBQ sauce. You can use shop bought or your own favorite homemade BBQ sauce. To serve, mix the sauce into the jack fruit and heat under the grill until its hot and the BBQ sauce has browned the flesh a little.

Use the shredded jack fruit for Enchilada, Tostadas, or serve it on a bun with a side of sweet potato fries.
I served mine on gluten free tostadas with tofu garlic-cream and black beans.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">My kitchen at Canford Cliffs has officially closed.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The saloon took a previously unexpected turn. It is going for expansion. They want to open at least another five saloons and with that in mind they have decided to out- source the food. The food will be coming from Naz at My Food. Naz already has a fully equipped kitchen at the Nuffeild estates. There was an option that I could perhaps work evenings preparing food for the Saloon but I am not much of an evening person.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">As a breakfast- brunch cook I like to get up early and start the coffee. I also really like to have a chance to talk to the customers.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">So I am back home in Parkstone, with my pots and pan's cookbooks and shakers.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I just wanted to say I had fun working with the goat team. I have loved meeting new customers in my four months at The Saloon, and I have also been so flattered with the loyalty of old customers who have followed me from from place to place, some from as far back as Las- Margaritas days.
The recipes for pancakes in this posting both give up something.
Serve them for breakfast or for a snack for later in the day. They will definitely satisfy a sweet tooth without having to raid the biscuit tin.
(Giving up the Dairy, the wheat, white refined sugar and the calories.) Paleo

There are recipes for these amazing "Paleo Pancakes" all over the internet. The most shocking thing about them is how simple they are to make and how good they taste.

Mash 1 banana with two free range eggs and mix it up. Imagine you are making scrambled eggs
with banana. I like to add a small cap of vanilla into the mix. The mixture will be quite thin.
Melt a little coconut oil in to a pan add a small ladle of the mix and cook gently for a couple of minutes on
each side. Serve with a squeeze of orange or lemon and coconut sugar.
There is a fold down parent bed beside each child's bed in Ward G3 in Southampton Hospital. Ward G3 Children's Orthopedics in Southampton is where I spent five days last week.

My daughter Raven had elective surgery on her back. Raven had Idiopathic Scoliosis, which basically means a curved spine. She had a five hour operation that with the help of metal rods straightened her spine.

For me it was nine days without work. Nine days not cooking for anyone. Sitting beside my daughter's bed I had plenty of time for reflection. It was sixteen years one month and twenty seven days since Raven was a brand new baby. She was born in Poole hospital. I remembered the overwhelming feeling of love I had for this small person I had just met.
Now here we were again in a hospital. Raven so much longer and taller and what adventures we have already had together. Sitting beside her It seemed as if only moments had passed since she was born. Nothing has changed except that I love her more and feel just as vulnerable and powerless when I cant stop things from hurting her.

I learned that Doctors are absolutely amazing, and clever, and brilliant, and almost magical in the things that they can do, but Nurses have something else indeed. Something incredibly special, the kindness, compassion, warmth, and empathy that was shown to my daughter amazed me. Lou, Hattie, Rachel, and Nicki are just a few of the nurses that work for the NHS in ward G3 in Southampton. For five days they were Raven's nurses. They are people we will remember for a long time.

The doctors fixed Ravens back, but it was these amazing nurses that were there to administer pain relief and medication. They observed, comforted, re-assured, and ultimately start the journey of healing my daughter.

I learned that we are all stronger than we know.Sleeping on a pull out bed on a floor in the dark listening to machines beep, in a ward full of children that are ill and in pain, makes you count your blessings, over and over and over again. Especially when you know your own child will be well soon.

I was reminded of how important my daughters tribe or peers were to us. One by one they arrived by train and bus to come and sit by her side. When they were there she laughed so much more and seemed more herself. I also appreciated the hugs and the kindness they gave me as I picked them up from reception.

I was reminded of how lovely it is to have my daughter crying about
normal things. On Friday morning she started crying about not being able to see her boyfriend until Monday. It was only a few nights before she had been waking at night crying in pain and I had been powerless to do anything but hold her hand.

I learned how important morphine is and what a difference it makes to pain relief. It made my heart break to think of the children in Syria and other countries without access to pain relief and kindness.

It is now ten days after the Operation, we have just been to see the nurse at our local G.P surgery. Raven had her dressing and sterile-strips removed the wound is healing well. My daughter was able to walk the 15 minute walk to the doctors and back. What a miracle modern medicine is and how lucky we are to have assess to it.

Thank you Thank you Southampton General Hospital and Thank you N.H.S.

Luckily I was sent £10.00 in vouchers to spend in the 99p shop and a challenge to spend it creatively and blog about it. On my first trip I bought a pack of O2 cookies, twenty mini flower pots and a tin of coconut milk.

I started by making the O2 cookie soil

All you have to do is split the cookies apart with a knife, scrape out the centre and then blend the cookies in a food processor. If you don't have a food processor, you can put them in a plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin.

I blended the coconut milk with banana's. Since it was an experiment I added a tsp of vanilla and some frozen blueberries to half the mix. To the other half I added rosewater and blueberries. I put them in the freezer for a couple of hours and then carefully removed them from the pot, then I rolled half of them in the O2 soil and left the other half plain. I wanted some of them to be a healthier option.
A couple of hours later they were perfect !

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> The recipe came from one of my favourite blogs. Emily Von Euw lives in Vancouver British Columbia and her raw food is utterly beautiful.ttp://www.thisrawsomeveganlife.com/

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> Her photography is so pretty. She can even inspire my 15 year old daughter to create. Like my daughter, she does seem to have a sweet tooth. This is probably why her raw cakes and sweet goods are works of art.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I have adapted Emily's recipe a little. Because last week In a fit of declutter and sort out my lifeness, I threw out the spring form tins. I have used silicone muffin tins instead.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I did not have two cups of cashew nuts so I used assorted nuts, cashews, almonds and hazelnuts. If you want to try her recipe or make your own version go here.

I feel like this is my discovery but sadly it isn't. I discovered Kale Salad a couple of months ago, Oliver Perron from @Boxedvegtvlasked me to come up with a Supper-Club style menu with a high content of seasonal veg. I needed to find something that used Calvo Nero. This is when I came across this amazing recipe for kale salad.

The recipe I used comes from a really innovative food truck in Boston called http://meimeiboston.com/

I have only ever been there by browsing online. The week I discovered the recipe the much revered Yotam Ottlenghi was in Boston and tried the salad, he loved it.

Things I love about Kale salad.

You don't have to cook it! Just like the fish in ceviche cooks in lime juice, kale changes to an amazing soft texture when it marinates in lemon and olive oil

Kale is Truly Madly Deeply good for you.

Kale Salad takes hardly any work. It's more like flower arranging than cooking.

Put it in a screw top jar carry it in your handbag and eat it on a park bench and it will bring you joy.

For the recipe for my favorite Kale Salad go here. I love how it is written in Haiku.http://meimeiboston.com/2012/12/17/winter-a-quick-chat-about-local-food-our-magical-kale-salad-recipe/ by the way evo means extra virgin olive oil
Breakfast

Baked Eggs

Breakfast on my day off. These are lovely straight from the oven and so easy to make. Take one large very deep muffin pan- I love this silicone one. Cut squares of puff pastry and put them into well greased tray.

Add a whole egg and some bacon, or some ruby chard and mushroom. Sprinkle with Maldon Salt, black pepper, and some fresh herbs.

Our Living Room opened as a coffee lounge on March 11th 2012. Prior to that it had been run soley as a bed and breakfast. What a terrible waste it would have been if it had stayed that way! Our Living Room is the family home of Andy and Anna Chamberlain and their two young children.

Located at 2 Drury Road, Our Living Room has become a neighbourhood haven for coffee addicts, foodies, and families. Andy and Anna, with their freind and partner Sarah Mitchell, have natured and lovingly worked over every detail of their coffee lounge.

For a year before the opening and well before any money was raised for the transformation, the trio held weekend Brunch Clubs, inviting freinds and family. They tested recipes and mulled over ideas. They sipped, brunched and lunched. Closer to opening time they asked for training and expertese on coffee from Joe at Boscanova and Steve from Tina We Salute You. They sought advice, graft and favours from many other freinds and neighbours.

Andy, Anna and Sarah set out to create an environment that felt like home, surrounded by friends. They wanted a space that welcomed children, encouraged adults to connect, and for all to feel nurtured and well cared for. I think that the Living Room has become that place. Friends and neighbors drop in regularly for coffee, food , and a chat. Bed and Breakfast guests mingle at breakfast with the locals.

I met Andy, Anna and Sarah In February. I am honoured that they chose me to work with them.
I am so happy to be cooking here.We have so many exciting plans.

Our Living Room serves Brunch from 8-2 Tuesday to Sunday - and stays open from 2-4pm
for sandwiches and cakes.

Closed Mondays and Bank Holidays for Family time (between us we have six kids!)
The garden looks amazing. Despite the fact that i never get around to planting much there is a harvest. There are rosehips and wild rocket, nasturiums and the last of the tomatoes. The old grape vine that my freind eric planted sixteen years ago turns a beautiful shade of orange and produces little sweet black seedless grapes. It's the start of soup and hot-pot season, turning on the oven just makes the house more cozy.
Lovely English Apples are everywhere. Lots in my freind Laura's Neigbors garden. Laura goes scrumping and brings us boxes of apples. I have made apple-sauce and put it in the freezer to have on top of porridge some snowy winter day. I have made soup and apple crumble.
Laura also bought along the most amazing still warm from the oven Apple Crisp.I also had the pleasure of making dinner for Rosie from Rosie's cafe in Boscombe.

Before I cooked I wrote. Poems and stories filled up my head and spilled out into, notebooks, and filing cabinets.Cafes were only ever a place to write or a waitress job to pay for a place to live and my typewriter rental. In 1982 I lived in Toronto I waitressed at a cafe and I paid $25 dollars a month to rent a large Olivetti typewriter.

Cooking only used to be about writers block. In 1985 I worked in Breadspreads, a Toronto sandwich bar. I fell in love with the building next to the sandwich bar. It was an old building with wooden floors and a vintage elevator. Despite having an apartment a short subway ride away and despite not caring about the fact that it was an office building with no proper living facilities I rented a small studio in the building. I spent my nights there watching downtown Toronto being re-built. At night when I couldn’t write I opened up the sandwich bar and I cooked. I cooked for construction workers, Bike-Couriers and office workers. My food was just writers block half bitten stories. I made two soups a day and specials.
Sometimes on Seafood Chowder days the whole pot would be reserved and sold before it was even fully cooked. Once two customers fought over a whole strawberry rhubarb pie and tried to outbid each other.

While I was at Breadspreads an office Tower was being built across the road. I fell in love with the Tower it was sixty-eight storeys high.
Elevator engineers came from Switzerland and cooked in the tiny kitchen for their co-workers. An Iron worker who was also a First Nations person would go back up to the Reservation on the weekends and come back with bison for me to cook. Toronto’s Bike Couriers fueled up on my pasta and soups.
Food became more about stories and people and gatherings than writers block.

Then in 1993 Eric Bow and I opened Las Margaritas a Mexican Restaurant on Poole Quay we cooked, Tamales, Mole, Texan Chillies, Mancha Mantal. We fed tourists, the locals and our neighbors. Every year to Celebrate the Mexican Day of the Dead we closed the restaurant and invited regulars and friends for our Grande Fiesta’s. On Christmas Eve we took home our staff and our friends for Midnight supper. Las Maggies traded for ten years. In those years I had a baby girl, I took writing courses. I wrote and mothered and I cooked.

Now in 2011 I have found that after cooking in the basement at the glorious Cafe Boscanova for four years and now in the tiny little shack at the back of Camden that I am missing the stories and the writing and missing the people. Food has become about order sheets kitchen politics and profit. The only writing I ever do is menu’s and staff rota’s.

The writing and stories have been neglected so badly that I didn’t even notice nearly all my word documents had disappeared from my computer.Luckily my computer was backed up say they have all been returned. Stories will soon be appearing here as well as recipes .My notebooks through out my life have been filled with a jumble of recipes, stories and poems. It is about time my blog reflected who I am as well.

To read the Tower a peice of short fiction about Toronto and cooking and food

Once I cooked daisies and four leaf clovers in the garden, dishing them up in small plastic bowls for the fairies, robins, worms and whoever else came to eat.

Once I grew courgettes in my garden. Courgettes have the most beautiful yellow flowers; I knew you could eat the flowers but I never had a recipe,a courgette flower and a deep fryer all at the same time.

This is about to change; Stuffed Courgette Flowers are on Ms Marmite Lover's Camp Bestival Menu. http://www.ticketline.co.uk/kerstin-rodgers-tickets
This weekend I will be cooking with Ms Marmite Lover and her team.

For 16 years I have had a grape vine growing in the garden and for all those years I have thought of making Grape Jelly (a kind of North American jam). A few times I went out and bought the sugar and a jelly bag, but I never quite got around to making the jelly. Wednesday morning, before I head to Camp Bestival, I am going to pick some vine leaves and take them with me to add to Ms Marmites Lover’s stash. Vine leaves will also be on Ms Marmite Lover’s Camp Bestival Menu.

Ms Marmite Lover is Kerstin Rodgers, owner of The Underground Restaurant in London and pioneer of the Supper Club movement in the UK. She is also author of "Supper Club", http://www.amazon.co.uk/Supper-Club-Recipes-underground-restaurant
a truly gorgeous book - quirky, down to earth, and inspirational.

I am no stranger to cooking. I know it is not really a glamorous job. It's mostly hard work. I am using up some of my holiday days from my regular gig to cook at Camp Bestival. For five days I will be living in a tent. (I have bought one and have even practised putting it up). I will be cooking with people I have never met.(I love meeting people while cooking!). There will be three sittings a day:one o’clock for a long lazy lunch, seven o’clock for dinner, and midnight for the secret supper. Food will be served on lovely vintage tableware in a marquee. Waitresses will be dressed in Vintage pinnies (and other clothes of course).

This is exciting for me. Last year my daughter Raven went to Camp Bestival with friends. I loaded her into the car with a stash of homemade banana bread and some baby wipes and waved goodbye. It seemed my whole street was going somewhere. My husband Bruce invited me to walk up to Lidls (Bruce love Lidls). We walked around, bought olive oil and dark chocolate and went home.

This year things will be different.
When my daughter was a toddler a half term treat outing consisted of a short train journey to the New Forest, a look at the ponies, a walk in the woods a little picnic. Things have changed at thirteen, the Girl loves to shop and she loves Brighton. She also loves her B.F Tom. Yesterday the three of us set out on an adventure. The deal was sometimes we would hang out together and sometimes we would seperate. After a couple of hours apart we met for lunch.

The Marwood Cafe 54 Ship Street in Brighton has inspired me to never ever give up my clutter.
I just have to learn to embrace it Excentric Bohemia Cosy could be the new look. At the Marwood cafe computer towers with cushions make great chairs, doors are used to make counters tables and seats. The look is definitely not Cath Kidson , but thats ok cause I am a bit bored with that look. I loved the bra over the lampshade, loved the art on the wall and so did the teens.

The menu was perfect because the Marwood has no kitchen to speak of; the blackboard offering was "cheap white bread toasties" made in a cheap but very effecient toastie machine. £2.50 per toastie. They were perfect.

I can't blog about coffee because I am not a proper coffee geek but I have worked with coffee geeks and been served amazing coffee daily. Marwoods coffee was a joy I had a pretty little piccola. After we had devoured out toasties we shared a slice of Victoria Sponge there was nothing cheap and white about the sponge it was £2.50 a slice and it taste as gorgous as it looked.
Almost a week at Camden Bar and Kitchen Ashely Cross and I will be honest and say" Oh my Goodness Me." I am not sure I have ever cooked in such a tiny tiny kitchen..Much much work to do, and some serious menu tweaking. The kitchen is cozy or its a cupboard, or its like when you have a dream that you are at work but actually you have fallen asleep in a cupboard.
The said kitchen is made all the more cozy with the company of the Lovely Fiona. Not only is Fiona a great help at a million things like lighting the gas oven, the oven terrifies me and the pilot is right at the back so you have to lie down practically on the floor to get it lit. Fi is also good at showing me how to get a pan scarily hot for steak and she has been learning my recipes really quickly. We have had some fun when I showed her how to make red onions Barbie Pink and she has now tasted cactus for the first time. The food has all gone out looking really pretty some of it even with purple pansies on top. There has been much positive feed back. The kitchen can only get better I don't think it will get bigger but maybe more shelves. I know I can do this..and I love the walk to work and never having to take the bus. I will say though I do miss Mr Lovett and his genius skill with space and shelves and problem solving and I really miss a huge kitchen and loads of storage space.
I am hoping once I get this kitchen organized I could have a few excursions perhaps do a couple of sessions with Sarah from Travels with my Aunt World Cafe, she must have some tips on cooking in a small space. I need to take another trip up to London and check out Broadway Market. How much space do those stalls have? Street food is often amazing food cooked in small spaces.I have so much to learn..Tansy'sKitchenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04556152168200323520noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4143668348721334143.post-73846158738904845872011-04-25T23:36:00.000-07:002011-04-26T04:38:41.472-07:00I am on the move
After four years of taking the Yellow Bus from Parkestone to Boscombe I am leaving cafe Boscanova.
Since the cafe opened it's doors four years ago, I've cooked gallons of soup made hundreds of specials, and introduced Boscombe to Canadian Pancakes. I've cooked ribs and chicken for Brian Wison and his band, and Cuban pork for a salsa band. I have cooked curry and fajita wraps in a tent at the Boscombe community fair. I have cooked in feilds and village halls and at the Bournemouth Tatoo Festival. I am so proud of the work I have done at Boscanova.

A big Thank you to Joe Lovett for choosing me to set up Cafe Boscanovas kitchens and trusting me with the food for so many years. Special thanks to Toyah Cannings and Sarah Farendon my two main girls for the whole four years. It would be impossible to count how many Boscanova breakfasts and lunches those girls have sent out. We did good girls! and we sent out some amazing food.

A special thank you to all the customers who have eaten the food over the years, and popped their head around the kitchen door and let us know how much they enjoyed it.

I have not hung up my pots and pans yet . My next venture is a little closer to home. I love new places and this one is brand new. So new that it's not even open yet . I have seen the kitchen it's about as small as a caravan but it has a little window. Soon the floor will go down and the sink will be plumbed in
and shelves built and cookers in place. I will keep you posted.
Someone is skiing down the middle of my road. Most people on Palmerston Rd have given up on going anywhere. The schools are closed and none of the cars are moving. There is an unofficial spontanious street party across the road in Alexander park. A lady well past 40 was sliding down a small hill on a plastic bag the park is packed with kids and parents and whatever you can slide on. Someone should start playing Bing Crosby and take some chestnuts and hot chocolate over there. Snow makes me feel like we are all living in a musical .
Raven is home and so are five of her freinds. I have a big pot of spagetti on. The hallway is full of wet boots
mittens and coats. I have just made Hot Chocolate with whipped cream Marshmallows and Candycanes.
In the garden loads of blackbirds are feasting on the grapes that I for the tenth year running have not made into grape jelly or wine.
Gatwick is closed , trains have stopped, schools are closed and tamale flour may or may not arrive. I am thinking now that some time after Christmas may be better when there is no threat of snow or severe weather.I think this is going go to be a stay in and make popcorn and cranberry decorations and write Christmas cards kind of weekend.
